Ice and snow
The ice and snow that we are getting may build up on tree branches and can add a lot of weight. Check your trees for breakage and call one of our Certified Arborists if we can assist you in taking care of your trees.Comments (0) 12.05.2011. 14:46
Timely Tips: Mulch Now
The rain that has fallen over the last 3 months has been just about normal for the period, but not nearly enough to break the sever drought that we are still in. Unless we get a lot of rain the last 10 days of December, the rain for the entire year AND the rain we got the last half of last year will just about equal our record low rainfall total. One way to conserve this moisture is to mulch. Nature does this naturally by dropping leaves as an insulating blanket. There will be less leaves on many trees this year, as not as many leaves formed and many trees have been shedding early as a survival mechanism. Much of the moisture might be lost if the ground isn't covered until later in the fall when leaves normally drop. Mulch now for best results. Another reason to use our wonderful compost now is to work it into the soil in your beds and vegetable gardens and let it lie fallow for the winter.02.17.2008. 21:05
Water Your Landscape
Late fall and winter is normally a very dry period on the High Plains of Texas. However, there is a lot of root growth during this time so thoroughly water at least monthly. Ideally, for most landscapes, sprinklers should be operated manually and 1.5-2" should be applied every 3-4 weeks.
