James Tuttle Named 2007 Texas Arborist of the Year

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas Forest Service and the Texas Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture presented the 2007 Texas Arborist of the Year award to James Tuttle of Lubbock at the annual Texas Tree Conference in Waco, October 11.

The annual tree conference awards celebrate the accomplishments of those who are dedicated to help Texas build stronger communities by planting, maintaining, protecting, and educating about trees.

"These awards recognize the best of urban and community forestry in Texas," said James Hull, state forester and director of the Texas Forest Service. Tuttle was awarded for his outstanding contributions to arboriculture practices in the drier, rockier regions of Texas.

Tuttle has been a Certified Arborist since the inception of the program in Texas. He has faithfully served the West Texas region (even stretching into eastern New Mexico) and for many years was the sole arborist in the vicinity. Tuttle currently owns Tree Loving Care, a company dedicated to educating people about tree care in West Texas.

Tuttle served for several years on the International Society of Arboriculture Texas Chapter board and was president in 2003-2004. His fervor and dedication to arboriculture and ISA has been a direct influence on there now being many Certified Arborists in the region. He has given talks, taught at workshops and seminars and has had many one-on-one talks to promote arboriculture.

Texas Forest Service's urban forestry programs develop and improve the capacity of communities to plant and care for trees in parks, along streets and in other urban settings.

We Now Provide Holiday Decorating

We are delighted to announce that we have purchased the Christmas Décor franchise from Mike Redeker and Lighting Specialties. Tree Loving Care has been the leading lover of trees on the South Plains for many years and we are now teamed with the national leader in holiday lighting. Christmas Décor began right here in Lubbock and is now a national franchised company with almost 400 franchises around the country. Blake Smith started a lawn service business in the mid-80’s and started putting up Christmas lights to augment the slow season. That effort went national 14 years ago.

The tree care business, as is all parts of the green industry, is certainly seasonal and fall and early winter has traditionally been our slow season, so we are delighted to be able to bring such quality to your Christmas Season. Tree Loving Care has been lighting landscapes for the holidays for many years, but we intend to now do it in a much bigger way. If we can help light up your holidays, please call 785-8733 to set up an appointment. To avoid the Thanksgiving rush, we are offering a 10% discount on all orders placed before October 6, 2007. We will install Christmas decorations and lighting, periodically inspect and maintain them, after Christmas, take them down, package and store them for next year. All this is for one very reasonable price and no hassles for you. All products are the highest quality available.
